Choi Daniel: The Ultimate Bias


I have a big crush with a Korean actor. Who will guess that I have huge interest with an actor that plays in korean dramas that i hated so much previously?

I saw him first as a lead actor in High Kick Through the Roof - I saw this drama because of Lee Kwang Soo. He acted as Lee Ji Hoon who is a cool residential doctor that surprisingly caring and witty. I fall for Ji Hoon’s personality. Moreover, how Ji Hoon develops romantically funny relationship with his girlfriend Hwang Jung Eum.

But, what I love the most is Ji Hoon’s smile that could melt everything around, even an explosive rage. Then I realized that smile is belong to the actor as his signature that also melt many women’s heart around the world. Ji Hoon has a very attractive smile because of Choi Daniel. That’s Choi Daniel’s smile, not Ji Hoon’s.

I confused whether it’s Ji Hoon character or Choi Daniel himself that I like. Whatever, I couldn’t rid away those georgeous smiles from my mind. It was the beginning of my curiosity and exploration of Choi Daniel then. I’ve found some facts that make me think maybe he is my ideal man ever. Why Choi Daniel seems to be my ideal type, of course it’s my subjectivity.

He is born at 1986. It means he was 23 years when filmed High Kick, and 29 years by now. I got shocked knowing that he was just 23 years when filmed High Kick, I thought he was over 25 years. He is maturer than his real age from all the appearances. What I mean is not merely his old-looks like many Korean entertaintment news told about, but also his masculine body-appearance, his gesture, and his attitude. I assume. All of those blended together make Choi Daniel really mature. Fortunately, he has a superior looks and hillarious smile so his old-looks still cute and handsome. His old-looks is not a poor thing, just the opposite: it’s his appealing.

Daniel is not a common name in Korea so many people think that Choi Daniel is a stage name. Yes, actually it is his real name that hide a miraculous story. He had been talked about this story in many interviews. His parents gave him a name Daniel as an expression of their gratitude to God. Daniel means a gift. Choi Daniel is a gift from God because he still made it eventhough his father already done vactesomy after his elder brother born. He was strong from the beginning. Then, I read that her mother passed away when he was 5 years old. Gradually his father business went bankrupt. As the consenquences, his family must be seperated and Choi Daniel stayed with his uncle. He suffered many lost, and he still survive. Now, he is a actor with various roles since his 10 years debut.

A show in Korea once revealed Choi Daniel’s middle school photograph. I think the young Choi Daniel is cute but not as attractive as now. Beside that, they interviewed Choi Daniel’s teacher. His teacher said that he is a very silent, well-mannered student. He also told that Choi Daniel always smile when he spoke to him in the end of the day. I imagine that Choi Daniel is someone who loves to smile. Is that because he has been practiced a lot to smile so his smile is georgous? :))

Choi Daniel stated that he left college after his first semester. He argued that school is not for everyone and there were many ways to achieve his dreams. So he took many auditions because he realized he want to be a actor. After 100 auditions, he was able to gain his first role. Abandoned school is very difficult decision in this modern society which education is a priority. I think, at that time Choi Daniel gambled a lot with his future. But, he is also persistent. I adore this quality. He left the school and made a hard effort for the path he passionates the most. Choi Daniel took hundred auditions for his love of acting.

Gu Hye Sun as his co-star in The Musical said that among her acting partners, Choi Daniel’s personality is her ideal along with Lee Min Ho looks. In different moment, Lee Dae Hee as his co-star in Big Man told that Choi Daniel is a comfortable man to be with. Minseo from drama Baby Faced Beauty once stated in Happy Together that Choi Daniel is a quirky one. I just wonder how Choi Daniel as a person in a reality. It seems he has a good personality. I also remembered that he said in the interview that his imperfection is the most charming side of him because it make him more approachable. It’s really a weird answer, but sounds sincere and humble.

I know that he is a actor, celebrity that puts a persona in front of the public. Maybe, he is not look like what I assume. However, that’s not a problem at all since I wouldn’t have an opportunity to interact with him in person so I couldn’t clarify what I’ve been thinking about him. I also realize that my admiration for him maybe will vanish someday. But at least Choi Daniel really made my day right now. It will be temporary. Rudely speaking, that’s what so called celebrity, right? Saranghae, Oppa :)

sekarang sudah tanggal 8 agustus. 2 hari lalu adalah 6 agustus. hari yang biasanya saya nanti sejak satu minggu sebelumnya. lalu anehnya, saya melupakannya begitu saja. lupa selupa lupanya. bahkan kalau saya nggak buka fb hari ini pun, saya yakin saya gak inget inget juga. kalo 6 agustus kamu ulang tahun. ritual tahunanku dengan mendoakanmu dalam hening tanpa kebingaran, luput juga tahun ini. semuanya terasa aneh. saya bingung. saya senang karena sepertinya saya sudah benar-benar terbebas. sekaligus sedih, kenapa terbebas itu sepertinya identik dengan melupakan. tak bisakah saya terbebas dengan tetap mengingatmu. menunjukkan betapa ikhlas saya tentang kamu, apapun itu. ah ikhlas, bukankah itu adalah tahap yang sangat sulit untuk dicengkeram, bahkan sekedar digenggam ataupun diletakkan di atas telapak tangan?

Berpulang Pada Kalian

Tanpa sadar aku telah merangkak keluar dari kehidupan orang-orang yang aku sayangi. Dan ketika jarak terasa semakin jauh, seandainya bisa, aku akan berlari kembali.. Proksimitas, aku merindukanmu begitu terpendam. Jarak yang begitu jauh terasa menyesakkan, dan rutinitas semakin menambah panjang saja jarak yang tercipta. Jarak bukan lagi sekedar jarak secara fisik dan ruang, tapi juga merenggangnya kelekatan dan semakin habisnya komunikasi dilahap oleh rutinitas yang membuatku melupakan komunikasi. Dan beginilah akibatnya, aku kehilangan sekian banyak teman-teman yan...

menghidupkan hidup

tak bisa dipungkiri, akhir-akhir ini saya benar-benar sedang mencintai dan menikmati kehidupan yang tengah berjalan. walaupun mungkin memang, saya semakin kehilangan waktu luang untuk sekedar bermain dan berkeliling. yah, seperti kehidupan saya di semester 3 kemarin sebenarnya. namun, ada yang berbeda di sini. di semester 3 saya tidak bisa menikmati semua kegiatan yang mayoritas dipenuhi dengan mengerjakan praktikum. and truly, that's suck. saya nggak rela kehilangan waktu bermain dan berkeliling yang saya gemari karena praktikum. tapi, lain dengan sekarang, karena apa yang saya jalani saat ini adalah sesuatu yang sangat menyenangkan. saya semakin enjoy dengan proses kuliah di psikologi. semakin banyak hal menarik yang didapat di perkuliahan ini. rasa tertarik yang kemudian menumbuhkan motivasi intrinsik untuk belajar secara mandiri. sungguh, ini adalah sebuah pencapaian bagi saya. ketika saya menikmati proses pembelajaran, ketika saya didorong oleh keingintahuan, ketika ...
